About
I grew up in Hawaii where going barefoot as a child was the norm and essential for beach-walking and tree-climbing. Drawn toward the power of touch, I gravitated to health care as a profession. I worked as a physical therapy aide and eventually earned a masters degree in physical therapy from the University of California at San Francisco. I have over a decade of physical therapy experience specializing in neurological disorders and currently work with acute rehabilitation patients at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
Although I enjoyed helping people through physical therapy, I wanted to complement my Western Medicine-based knowledge and skills. This led to my study of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, and consequently, to my embrace of Barefoot Shiatsu as a powerful practice. I studied for seven years with barefoot shiatsu Master Edward Spencer and was honored to be chosen as his apprentice. The healing arts in all their richness provide a lifetime of learning, and my clients have always been my best teachers.
